2018 FIFA World Cup Finals: What to Know

The World Cup finals are approaching, with France and Croatia set to play for the title of world champion. The match will take place on Monday, July 16 at 1am AEST.

France, which has been a fan favourite since the beginning of the tournament, went into the final with zero loss since the group stage. The 19-year-old forward Kylian Mbappé has come out as the team’s breakout star, with football pundits praising his seasoned playing style.

Croatia, the smallest country (with a population of 4.2 million) to reach finals since Uruguay in 1950, came out as the dark horse. Spectacular performances from midfielders Luka Modric, Ivan Rakitic and Ivan Perisic, along with strong penalty game sent the team to its first ever World Cup final.
