Jeff Horn has defeated Gary Corcoran on Wednesday night in Brisbane, successfully defending his WBO welterweight world title.
The 29-year-old won through a technical knockout in the 11th round, as Corcoran threw in the towel following a cut near his left eye.
“Too many cuts, couldn’t see the shots coming,” the 27-year-old Corcoran said. “Fair play to Jeff, he’s a good fighter but I’ll be back, I’ll learn from it and come again.”
“He pushed me all the way… I felt my timing was a bit off but I managed to get him out of there in the end,” said Horn.
It was Horn’s first fight after the July bout against Manny Pacquiao, which ended in a controversial note as scorers ruled in favour of the Australian despite some observers’ belief that he landed far less punches.
