Soccer: Tomi Juric Ruled Out of Socceroos Match for Knee Injury

Striker Tomi Juric has been ruled out of Socceroos’ upcoming qualifier against Thailand due to his knee injury.

The 25-year-old player allegedly injured his ligament in an FC Luzern game just after eight minutes in.

Juric will be replaced by Apo Giannou for the November 15 match.

“We have had confirmation from the medical staff at Luzern that Tomi has suffered a knee injury that will rule him out of the match against Thailand,” said Australia coach Ange Postecoglou in a statement.

“Over the last 18 months we have worked hard to ensure we have depth and we have full faith in Apo to join the squad and get the job done.”

Juric’s absence follows the ruling out of midfielder Massimo Luongo and back-up goalkeeper Mitch Langerak due to foot injuries. Melbourne City’s Luke Brattan will be replacing Luongo, while Swansea City’s Mark Birighitti will be replacing Langerak.
