Tennis: Serena Williams Is Pregnant, Will Sit Out of Competition for the Rest of 2017

World number two Serena Williams is pregnant and expected to give birth in September, her publicist confirmed.

The statement was released after the American posted a picture on Snapchat with the caption “20 weeks”. This suggested that Williams was pregnant when winning her 23rd singles title in the Australian Open in January.

Williams’s publicist Kelly Bush Novak said that the 35-year-old will not compete for the rest of the season and come back in 2018.

Williams has not played since her Australian Open win, citing a knee injury.

Williams announced her engagement with Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian in December.
